This double bill pairs the surreal dream-world of Schoenberg’s masterpiece Erwartung with the premier of Daphne, Ovid’s legend from the Metamorphoses retold from her own tragic perspective.
Set in a forest, and torn between dream, myth, and reality, the two operas are united in
the schism between what we want and how the world truly is.
Sung by soprano Bethany Hill, Daphne is written by the award winning playwright Fleur
Kilpatrick, composed by Josh van Konkelenberg, and directed by Bronwyn Palmer.
