A Taste of Opera

A Taste of Opera is a series of performances based on famous operas.
To keep costs low, the number of singers is kept to a bare minimum, staging and lighting are very simple and accompaniment is provided by one pianist. In such an uncomplicated theatrical setting, the singing and the acting are as powerful as ever... if not more so because of the "singularity" of the performance art.
Try A Taste of Opera and you will want to come back for seconds.

Highlights of Barber of Seville

Following the extraordinary success of the short Adelaide season of Highlights of The Barber of Seville last December, the piece will be revived for one performance in 2010. Andrew Turner's highly comic direction and the vocal brilliance of the cast (there is no more appropriate description) ensures the most satisfying night of entertainment imaginable.

Highlights of La Bohème

The fun and joie de vivre in the cafe, the nonsensical games in the garret, the tender love of Rodolfo for Mimi and the sparks between Musetta and Marcello... and fate's ultimate cruel hand, combine to make this the quintessential romantic opera.

Highlights of Carmen

There is no higher example of true music drama than Bizet's Carmen. The way the composer depicts the changing fortunes of Don Jose ensures we experience what he experiences. The picture he paints of Carmen herself convinces us she is the most alluring yet independent woman to grace the stage.

Highlights of Cosi fan tutte

Mozart's exquisite ensemble opera, Cosi, is a late piece that brings together the myriad facets of the composer's utter genius. Always refreshing. Always enchanting. And the ridiculous costume deception is pure entertainment. It's a privilege to play Mozart.
